Can Food Allergy Be Prevented in Young Children?

Children who are at risk for the development of allergy, such as those with a strong family history of allergies, may be able to delay or prevent the onset of food allergies. This may be possible by avoiding highly allergenic foods during the first many months or years of life.

If you have a young child with allergies or who is at risk of developing allergies, find out about what types of foods should be avoided, and when these foods may be safely introduced into the diet.
