Food Allergy: The Next Health Epidemic?

A recent study showed that 5 percent of adults in the United States report being diagnosed with a food allergy. More than half reported an allergy to one of the major causes of food allergies (milk, wheat, soy, wheat, peanut, treenuts and seafood). Accidental exposures to these foods were a common occurrence in this study, which was performed prior to the passing of recent laws establishing the requirement to label foods more clearly with allergens they contain.

I was glad to see your article did mention that “Children less than 2 years of age may have less skin reactivity to allergy skin tests.”
This is an important point as babies can have false negative skin tests which leads to even more confusion in getting the proper diagnosis.
