What are Nasal Polyps?

Nasal polyps are clear, gelatinous growths within the nose and sinuses, and are caused by chronic inflammation and/or chronic infections. People with nasal polyps typically experience severe nasal congestion and decreased sense of smell and taste. While surgery is often required for severe nasal polyps, they tend to grow back -- therefore, medications are an important aspect of therapy to prevent re-growth of polyps.
