Two Nasal Sprays Are Better Than One

There are two major classes of prescription nasal sprays available for the treatment of allergic rhinitis: Nasal steroids (such as Flonase, Nasonex, Rhinocort, Nasacort and Veramyst) and nasal antihistamines (recent study has shown that the use of both nasal steroids and nasal antihistamines works better than either one alone for the treatment of nasal allergy symptoms. Many allergists have used this combination therapy for the treatment of allergic rhinitis for years. This combination works so well in fact, that rumor has it that the makers of Astelin are developing a combination nasal spray containing azelastine (Astelin) and fluticasone (Flonase).
