FDA: No Suicide Risk From Singulair

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced last week that they concluded that there is no association between Singulair and suicide risk. Singulair (montelukast), has been available for the treatment of asthma for about 10 years, and has also been approved for the treatment of allergies. This drug works by blocking leukotrienes, which are allergic chemicals which promote inflammation in the nose and lungs. The FDA is still looking into reports that Singulair causes behavorial and mood changes.

That’s not what I’m reading: there’s a communication on the FDA website 1/13/09 that stated that they had not yet reached a definitive conclusion about the matter and would be communicating the conclusions and any resulting recommendations at the conclusion of the review which may take months to complete. Where are you getting your information from?
