Neti Pots and Sinus Rinses for Allergies
Tuesday May 12, 2009
Nasal saline irrigation has been shown to be a beneficial therapy in the treatment and prevention of sinus infections and allergic rhinitis. This all-natural therapy involves rinsing the nasal passages with a salt-water solution, helping to rid the nose of allergens and mucus. This may reduce the need for antibiotics in those people prone to sinus infections. Learn more about the use of Neti pots and sinus rinses for allergies and sinus problems.

I’ve used the neti pots and the neil med nasal rinse but both were messy and not very effective. For the past year I have been using the SinuPulse pulsating irrigation system which I ordered at CVS.com and it has changed the quality of my life. It reaches areas the neti and nasal rinse bottle cant and it’s much more easy to use. It compares to the neti and bottles the way an airplane compares to the horse and buggy it’s that far superior.
Starting using Neti after 15 years severe suffering of tree pollen allergies and seeing four different MD’s. Changed my life. This year, no medication taken, almost no symptoms. Used Neti 1-3 times a day and never breathed better. Yes, a little messy and took a while to get use to. Upset that I’m 48 years old and just found out about this. What are they teaching in medical school anyway? PS, spouse uses for Sinus infections and has also helped and cut down on reoccurrence.
Several years ago, I decided to rid myself of fall and spring hayfever-like allergic reactions by strengthening my immune system. The secret? Better stress management. Tools?
Daily physical workouts, 8-12 hours of sleep each night, brown food (whole grains) instead of white, lots of fruits and vegetables relative to meat and dairy, and prayer with positive expectations about my challenges. The result? No more medications!
I use the SinuPulse at home for its effectiveness and the neti on the road for convenience and this really keeps my allergy and sinus symptoms in check. Just say “NO” to drugs and nasal sprays.
Nasal irrigation isn’t just a preventative measure. When performed with hypertonic saline it can be a treatment.
