Allergies and Asthma May Protect Against Certain Types of Brain Cancer

While people with allergies have to worry about all sorts of things, including food allergies, hay fever and asthma, one thing that they can worry less about is getting a brain tumor. A variety of different studies have looked at possible associations between brain tumors and allergies. A recent study that pooled this data showed that having allergies or asthma reduced the risk of developing certain types of brain cancer by about 50%. It is important to note, however, that these studies only looked at associations, not necessarily true cause-and-effect relationships between allergies/asthma and brain tumors.
