A Breath of Fresh Air

Indoor allergens can make people with allergies and asthma miserable, especially if they are allergic to a pet in the home. Air purifiers, especially HEPA filters, can remove most airborne allergens, including animal dander, molds and pollens. Dust mite particles, however, are typically heavy and not generally found in the air, but can be controlled with other avoidance measures.

People with asthma should use caution with newer electronic-precipitator air cleaners, such as the Ionic Breeze. These devices generate an electronic charge to catch airborne particles, but may produce ozone in the process. Ozone is known to be an irritant in the lungs, particularly for asthmatics. So, if you suffer from allergies or asthma and need a breath of fresh air in your life, buy a HEPA filter.
