From Sneezers.....to Wheezers?

Hay fever symptoms can be more than just annoying - they can lead to more severe problems, such as asthma. When allergy symptoms are severe, asthma can be triggered in some people.

In fact, approximately 25% of those with hay fever can progress on to have asthma, and this can occur at any age. Those with the most severe symptoms or exposure to the most triggers may be more likely to progress on to asthma.

Treatment of allergic rhinitis, through avoidance of allergic triggers, use of medications, as well as starting allergy shots, may help prevent the development of asthma, particularly in children.
