This Week's Health Tip - Keep Food in Tightly Sealed Containers

Cockroach antigens are proteins found in the cockroach's feces, saliva and eggs. These antigens can trigger allergic reactions and asthma attacks when they become airborne.

Keep food in tightly sealed containers. Do not eat in bedrooms. Seal garbage bags and dispose of bags in lidded containers outside of your home. Seal any cracks in your home to prevent infestation, and eliminate water sources that may attract cockroaches by promptly fixing leaky faucets and drain pipes.

Learn more about indoor allergen avoidance, including cockroach, dust mite, mold and animal dander control measures.
