Definition: Necrotic tissue is dead or partially dead tissue in the body, usually as a result of an abnormal event, such as loss of blood supply or caused by an infection or a toxin. Treatment often involves the surgical removal of the dead tissue, along with reversal of underlying problem which caused the tissue death.
Examples:
A spider bite, caused by the brown recluse spider, can result in necrotic tissue.
