Definition: A specific form of asthma that is caused only by exercise, and not by other triggers such as allergens, respiratory tract infections or irritants. Exercise results in cooling and drying of the airways, which leads to constriction of smooth muscle around the airways, causing worsening of asthma symptoms.
Also Known As: Exercise Induced Bronchospasm
