How my mosquito allergy affected me

I had over 20 mosquito bites just recently on my vacation back home. Some I got in california, some on the east coast. I got one on my eyelid and it swelled up so I couldn't open my eye. Three bites right on top of each other on my cheek that swelled up so huge it went from my cheekbone down past my chin to my neck. The back of my right thigh had one bite that went from the back of my knee to the bottom of my buttocks. I had a real bad one on my ring finger that swelled up so bad that my finger was turning blue because of my ring, I had to pry the ring off with soap! OW! I looked like I was in street brawl!

What I did to overcome it

Nothing could help it. Just time and drowsy meds with pain relievers. I just looked like a loser in a brawl. Not even makeup could cover the redness of the bites. Even my clothes slightly touching the bites made it worse. There really is nothing you can do - and because I have olive skin I will have the bruises from these bites for months.

Lessons Learned

  • USE DEET! Protection is the only thing that can help. You don't want to get sick or visit the doctor on vacation.
