Unless you've had your head in the sand, you've probably heard more about the swine flu than you care to admit. But unless you've actually sought out useful information on swine flu, mostly what you've read is about hype and fear. Swine flu, just like the "standard" flu, can significantly worsen asthma symptoms in people with asthma. Because of this, most people have some plans on how to prevent from contracting the swine flu. Clean Airborne Germs Before They Land!

If you go to Flu.Gov you'll see the concerns the CDC has over airborne germs landing on surfaces and remaining active for up to 48 hours, waiting for a hand to touch them, transfer them to one's face, and catch the flu. These germs stay airborne by themselves, or catch a ride on flying dust particles. The germs are so small that several thousands could live within the bounds of the period at the end of this sentence. They're small, but they're active, and they're dangerous. These flying nanoparticle germs can be largely contained by being caught within the air stream of a professional respiratory portable air cleaner, one equipped with activated carbon, a HEPA filter medium, and a HEGA carbon filter medium. (an example is Austin Air's Healthmate, http://www.asutinair.com) which was recently tested in the ermergency department of Buffalo General Hospital, and was found to dramatically decrease airborne infectious germs before patients could breathe in our touch germ surfaces.

How to prevent and treat swine flu...

My five year old (who has allergies and asthma) and I take Emergen-C every day and he also takes two teaspoons of elderberry (sambucus) syrup every day. Elderberry has been clinically proven to keep viruses and bacteria from replicating... Even with his allergies and asthma, he hasn't been sick in a year. I'd highly recommend this regimen (high vitamin C - at least 1,000 mg per day plus sambucus). It works for us!
