Spray With Capsaicin Stops Itching Fast

There is a skin spray called ThermaSkin that uses hot pepper extract (capsaicin) to stop itching. They claim to stop any itch in under a minute and it really does work. They also have a product for scalp itching called ThermaScalp. I haven't tried that one but I can say the ThermaSkin really works instantly. It's amazing and it doesn't burn at all.

First Battle fought and won

I had small red itchy spots all over my body when I got pregnant and I saw more and more after waking up each night.. cortisone cremes wouldn't help.. they were mostly in the areas where clothing touched my body like my panty and bra line. Normally you cannot see mites, but I happend to have good peripheral vision and I picked it off w/ a tweezer and stuck it in some Chardonnay and took it to the derm lab where he looked under the microscope. It was a rattus rattus mite! It had an egg sac that was at least 2x it's size, thus I was able to pick it off. These pests prefer the rat but when the rats go away, they crawl from the basement or attic where the rats were, often via electrical wires into your room. Tehy are active at night, 11PM and afterwards. They will eventually die within 40 days as I recall without the rat around. We used an IPM exterminator who used diatomaceous earth in the electrical outlet panels and he caught 9 huge rats in the basement! Pregnant mammals attract

Why can't they find what's causing this

I've been to the family Dr., the allergist, I've had my throat scoped, taken all kinds of medicine, went to the Dermatologist and in 5 mns he told me I hade Dermaphotoism - Dermographia. I started taking an anti histimine everyday and it helped but not all the time. I stopped cause I wanted to find out what the real cause was. I was told not to eat anything with histimines in it. All foods have histimines in it! Except, salad and chicken. I 1st got this about 5 yrs ago and it sent me to the hospital because it woke me up with a burning sensation all over my body and I had red welts all over me and they itched so bad that the only thing that made it feel better was using a fork to scratch my itch. It went away for about 3 yrs and now it's been back for almost 2 yrs now. I just want to know WHY??????? I look like a monster when it's full blown... Please, someone find the cure!! And why does it come out now?? I never had it before!!!

Suggestions

I, too, suffer with all-over maddening itching. When I'm emotionally nervous, it gets a lot worse, so I suspect it's partly nerve- related. I've had bouts of iron-deficiency anemia, too. Itching is a symptom. I know I don't stay as well hydrated as I should - drink more water! Also, I regularly take Meloxicam (NSAID) for arthritis and NSAIDS can cause itching. Benadryl works, but it makes me so sleepy. Xanax works, I hate to admit. That's probably a 'nervousness thing.' Suggestion for those with itchy hands: Are you at a computer for long periods? Are you leaning your lower arm against the table edge and partially compressing nerves? Itching happens when compressed nerves re-awaken. I don't have answers, but maybe something I've said might help.

Solution Found

Like many of you, I ahve suffered from severe itching all over my body. I have scratched myself to the point of having several scabbed areas on my body. My face is probably the only area of my body that doesn't itch. What works for me are antihistamines. The name brand doesn't seem to matter. I usually take Zyrtec or Alavert as they last 24 hours and don't make me sleepy. If I miss even one pill, I am back to itching my skin raw. Hopefully, taking these allergy pills every day long-term won't have any negative effects.

Severe itching, feet twitch, goosebumps

Thank you for all your postings on this subject so far. I too am at the end of my rope. Every three days or so I go through two to three days of extremely intense itching. It feels like bugs are crawling ALL OVER. It is impossible to sleep as it is impossible to ignore the itching. I also get these really intese urges to scratch my feet that make them twitch involuntarily. I too have tried a number of different topical creams and quickly realized that the problem is internal. I also get a surge through my body every 30 seconds or so that results in goosebumps in my legs and arms. I do not currently have insurance so for now a doctor visit is virtually out of the question. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I do not know how much more of this I can take. God bless I will say a prayer for all of you.

itchy skin

Capzacin is the answer! It has given me great relief. It depletes "substance P" which sends pain signals to the brain. You skin feels like you have rubbed jalapena peppers on it -- Capzasin is hot peppers. It is wonderful -- I couldn't live without it. I works especially great after warm water which opens the pores so that it acts more quickly.

Itchy legs

For years I have had itchy legs. A few days after I shave my legs would itch even more. I would pull out the hairs on my legs but that would only stop it for a little bit. The worst was at night when my legs got to hot from being covered or in the sun to long. I tired everything I could think of ...lotions...baby oil...etc. Then a friend of mine told me that I could have an allergy...she did. So I started taking allergy pills when the iching started and now I don't itch. Thank God it's not a cure but I can sleep again and not scar up my legs.

Itchy skin problem

I was recently prescribed nadolol. Not only did I develop this horrid burning itch from Hell but it was sending shooting pains throughout my stomach over to my left side, up my arm to my shoulder. I called my doctor and I told him I am not taking it anymore. No pains or vomiting today. Now that I have identified the source of the itch, I am buying a loofah on a stick, goats milk products. The medication was prescribed for high blood pressure. I have scratched areas on my back I never reached before with my hands. Keep you updated because I have used goats milk soap and it makes your skin soft and relieved. I feel like I need to be immersed in a vat of lanolin or olive oil.

TORMENT!!!!!!!

i cannot figure out what is going on with me!!! The itchiness in my skin is SO severe, that I am having to take FORKS, BUTTER KNIVES, COMBS, and HAIRBRUSHES to myself, but a split second later I am just itching again, all over every inch of my body, and it lasts for HOURS at a time. I go without sleep, my days and nights are really screwed up, and I am to the point of going insane and am even crying its so bad. These so called ''itch-reliever'' lotions are a joke, and a doctor don't even know what to do. What do I do??!!!!???? ***Please ask your doctor to send you to a specialist - an allergist or dermatologist - to help you with your symptoms. -- Dr More***

Itchy skin

I have very itchy skin, it comes and goes, on my face, neck, and arms, especially the arms, I had a very bad cold back in October and was put on Penicilin, then on Avalox, never itched until I used Avalox, can this be the cause?

itchy skin

I am familiar with Mountain Rose Herbs and will try this goldenseal... me and dogs. I believe I have found the source---dust mites. Now to attack. allergy bedding. anti-mite to add to laundry or the tried and true 20 Mule Team Borax. I just tried Tiger Balm due to the menthol camphor. I use Tiger Balm anyway for sore muscles now see to the welts. A new bed and goldenseal.
